Safety Tools
We Built a Safety Tool Because We Needed One
When we first started running Einsol's Razor at our own table, we did what most GMs do, asked around the table if anyone had any hard limits, got a few nods, and moved on. It worked, mostly. But "mostly" isn't good enough when you're running a game that blends cyberpunk grit with dark fantasy. Einsol's Razor goes places. And not everyone wants to go to the same places.
The problem with the verbal check-in is that it puts people on the spot. Nobody wants to be the one who kills the vibe before the campaign even starts. So things go unsaid, sessions get uncomfortable, and suddenly the table isn't fun for someone who never felt like they could speak up.
That's why we built the Safety Tools system directly into einsolsrazor.com, and made it free for every GM with an account.
Here's how it works. If you log in you can create a session, share a unique link with your players, and they rate topics using a simple traffic-light system, green means bring it on, yellow means handle with care, red means hard no. They can respond anonymously if they want to. You get an aggregated summary of where your table stands before you ever write a word of your campaign.
It covers violence, horror, mental health themes, real-world parallels, phobias, tone, relationships, and players can add their own topics if something isn't on the list.
There are also three things that aren't on the list at all, because they're not comfort-level conversations. Sexual assault, racism and discrimination, and slavery are hardcoded exclusions. They are not part of any Einsol's Razor table, period.
If you prefer pen and paper, there's a free printable version too. Same system, no login required.
Safety tools only work if people actually use them. We wanted to make using them as easy as possible, for the GM, and especially for the player who might not know how to raise their hand.
Give it a try before your next session. Your table will thank you.
